PZB-115 is an angle grinder that uses passive and active damping to combat the condition Vibration White Finger (HAVs). The piezoelectric sensor continuously measures, compares and reacts to the vibration frequency and subsequently transmits the opposite signal to dampen the vibration.
Through improved ergonomics and features such as the quick release guard and rotating bulkhead, the user can effortlessly adjust the power tool to the most comfortable and safest position.

Working alongside a metal fabrication team from Siemens Engineering Ltd, I was able to gain a number of key insights and observations that influenced and helped define PZB-115.
By producing weighted and form models it was possible to get a better understanding of the weight distribution and determine the angle of the rear handle and the overall length of the angle grinder. The form model was then created to get a better understanding of the shape and the feel of the product.
